Description

A precise determination of the CKM unitarity triangle angle γ (gamma) is crucial for testing the Standard Model's predictions of CP violation in quark interactions. In July 2024, the LHCb collaboration reported a determination of γ from a combined analysis with a total uncertainty of less than 3 degrees. This milestone was achieved by analyzing over 198 observables from  9 fb⁻¹ of LHCb data collected during Run 1 and Run 2 of the LHC and 2.93 fb⁻¹ of e⁺e⁻ collision data near the ψ(3770) resonance from the BESIII experiment. I will present the key LHCb and BESIII measurements, the interplay between the two experiments, and notable outcomes from the global analysis. Additionally, I will discuss future prospects for γ measurements and the potential of quantum-correlated D⁰D⁰ pair analyses.
